Instructor Training Courses
Instructor Training

These instructor courses train you to teach various American Red Cross Health & Safety Classes by developing an understanding of the course materials, learning how to conduct training sessions, understanding the methods used to evaluate participant progress, and learning how to prepare and submit records.

Instructor candidates are required to teach two classes or twelve hours of instruction (whichever is greater) in their specialty areas under the supervision of a chapter designated instructor to receive an authorization to teach from the Silicon Valley Chapter. These internship hours are in addition to the scheduled hours for completion of each course.

Upon completion of teaching these classes, the chapter may:

  • Issue the authorization to teach.
  • Require additional supervised teaching classes.
  • Decline to issue the authorization based upon the evaluation and recommendation of the observing instructors.

Once authorized, you may only teach for the American Red Cross itself or an organization, which has been approved by the local chapter as an Authorized Training Provider of American Red Cross Health & Safety Classes.
