In honor of the 20th Anniversary of Loma Prieta Earthquake, at 10:15 a.m. on October 15, 2009, millions of Californians will participate in the largest earthquake drill ever!

Devastating acts, such as the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, have left many concerned about the possibility of future incidents in the United States and their potential impact.

A thunderstorm is considered severe if it produces hail at least 1 inch in diameter or has wind gusts of at least 58 miles per hour. Every thunderstorm produces lightning, which kills more people each year than tornadoes or hurricanes.

Hurricanes are strong storms that cause life­and property­threatening hazards such as flooding, storm surge, high winds and tornadoes.
